This token is only for collectors. The Koryvantes were worshiped with orgiastic dances of the faithful, who were characterized as "koryvandiontes" (Aristof. Sphikes 8, Plat. Critias 54, Symposium 215). The faithful called the Koryvantes with wild shouts and movements. In their fury they would sometimes injure themselves, as they beat the cymbals and drums to the accompaniment of flutes. The ancients called the state of ecstasy "Plirosis (fulfilment)", which was bestowed by the divine. They equated this rage with drunkenness or eloquence.
