The Creator and the Crow

This piece tells of the Creation story after the great flood, as it was told to me. After the earth was covered by the waters a crow grew tired of flying. The crow called out to the Creator and pleaded for a place to rest. From his Sacred pipe bag he brought out the Loon, Otter and Beaver... all three dove into the waters to retrieve some earth but all failed. The Creator then chose the Turtle who swam down into the depths. After a while the Turtle surfaced with earth in it's claws and shell. The Creator then spread the earth out and Prayed over it with two huge eagle feathers.... soon the earth grew and spread out across the waters and all of Life was called fourth from the Sacred pipe ...View all
