In the ides of march, at the Theatre of Pompey in Rome a conspiracy of Roman senators stabbed the dictator Julius Caesar 23 times. An act of betrayal that brought an end to his reign.
The most interesting part of this piece of history to me is the grim portents that arrive with the deposition of a dictator. The resulting bitter conflicts from various factions trying to seize power. A fallout that is seen throughout history anytime a powerful leader is deposed. My idea for this piece is as a reminder of an historic moment relayed through art and theatre throughout the ages, viewed through a modern lens.
