Chapter 8 opens with 4 1/1 mints of "subjects" which we only know of by partly revealed names. We have seen them before. We thought they were marionettes. As doubt lingers, a series of mints reveal The Accident, The Incident and The Encounter. A sense of foreboding and supernatural sweeps over. Hope and despair make a lethal cocktail together and things do take a dangerous turn once mutations kick in. Is the fate even worse than the House? Book 1 concludes with a sense of threatening new beginning. The last scene feels like The Marionette House might not be intact anymore
