This piece was inspired by my daughter who is 5 and has a lot to say. Often at night, long after I've tucked her into bed, I hear her playing with, and talking to, the toys in her room. For this piece I wanted to paint her in a scenario that she might be imagining when she’s deep in her make believe world telling her secrets, ideas, plans and stories to the many stuffed animals she has at the end of her bed.
Watching my children grow I have been taken back to my own childhood and have remembered how immersed in my own fantasies I would become. When playing "Make Believe", children aren't just pretending. For that moment they are fully immersed in their own make believe idea. This piece al...
