The Empty Divine

Double Vision is a collaborative collection where Lindsay Overbey X Roger Allan Cleaves make art from a passage of literature that we alternate in choosing. We each create just half of the artwork and do so blindly, much like in the creation of an Exquisite Corpse drawing. The halves are compiled digitally and then we each work the piece as a whole until the image is resolved. Woke at Dawn was inspired by a passage from The Tao Te Ching “The way is an empty vessel, used but never filled: unfathomable, the source of all. It blunts sharpness, untangles knots, softens the glare, lays the blowing dust. Deep hidden, always here. I don't know how it came to be, preceding the divine”
