The War and Peace Nebula, also known as NGC 6357, is a vast emission nebula located in the constellation Scorpius.
It is a site of active star formation, and the region is home to numerous hot, young stars. The nebula's distinctive shape is believed to be the result of intense radiation and stellar winds from these massive stars, which have sculpted the surrounding gas and dust into complex patterns.
The name colloquial name "War and Peace" was chosen by a team of scientists which saw structures which resembled both a skull and a dove on different regions of the nebula. It is also referred to as the "Lobster Nebula".
