There is a lot to take in, in this frame. The park, Roosevelt Island, the lines of the avenues, buildings, shadows, and water. The element that stands out to me is the bridge at the top of the frame. The Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. The bridge spans The Narrows, the small channel that connects The Upper and Lower Harbors of New York. My wonder comes when I consider what this place was like prior to ALL THIS. This small straight of water became the gateway to what would become one of the most influential cities in the world. My point is, remember to seek out what's overlooked. Also, never forget that Staten Island was connected to Brooklyn 13,000 years ago.
