In the ancient land of Hyperborea, dragons were revered as gods. They were said to have been created by the Great Spirit in the time before time, and given control over the elements: fire, water, earth, and air. The people of Hyperborea built great temples to the dragons, and made offerings of gold and precious stones to appease them.
But the dragons were not content with mere offerings. They demanded human sacrifices, and the people of Hyperborea, fearing for their lives, complied. Every year, a virgin was chosen from the village and taken to the temple to be devoured by the dragon of fire.
