An early winter storm brought a cold snap that dumped snow on the lower peaks of the San Gabriel Mountains. Snow at this elevation normally melts the same day so I knew I had to take a chance and come to one of my favorite views of the Hollywood Sign the morning after the storm. The payoff was huge; lining up the iconic LA palms in the foreground, layers of the Hollywood hills, a dusted peak and a pre-sunrise burn that lit up the sky.
