These pesky creatures exist by sucking the fur off animals with their long proboscises. The mugnat usually lands on the head of some unsuspecting host and then proceeds to farm its fur. If unnoticed the victim could go bold in a matter of minutes. The mugnat injects the host with a mild sedative so that they don’t notice their hair is being stolen. The mugnat ingests the hair as a food and any surplus is used to make tiny mugnat nests for their babies. How cute!
