Loch’s strange orbit and proximity to Worm creates an unusual phenomenon once every 100 years. At this point in Loch’s orbit the planet becomes much closer to Worm which causes an increase in gravitational pull. In the past this has resulted in residents being whisked off into space and is the reason why Lochdown day was introduced. On Lochdown day inhabitants simply get in their special bunkers and wait for the moment to pass. The only creatures that can safely move around during this period are the lobulian.
