this song child of mine, called "out of focus", is particularly special because it represented a much-needed return to form for me at a very difficult time. music creators can probably relate to the idea that your creative process evolves drastically as you become deeper enveloped by the industry. although i can stay busy with sessions every day sometimes weeks will go by and i'll realize i haven't touched a piano once. songwriting was born as a sacred, solo activity for me: sitting, emoting at the piano, having no idea what i was doing. so although i am grateful that now i can create a song in a multitude of ways, i can start burning out or feeling inexplicably lost if i spend too much time...
