This character is inspired by the first Dominican actor that made it into Hollywood. I was familiar with the name that she went by Maria Montez, but was never introduced to her story. As I got to know more through my research, I felt so connected to her. Her many accomplishments in the artistic realm were so impactful and one I now look up to. As an artist and creator myself, she gave me so much more hope and inspiration. Often in lower income families these aspiration of being an artist, an actor, a model, etc. is not even an option or possibility, let alone a career path that is taken seriously.
