Between 2004 and the first half of 2008, Bank of America and certain companies that it acquired in the second half of 2008 (the “acquired companies”) sold approximately $2.1 trillion of mortgage loans and residential mortgage backed securities (“RMBS”). Of the $2.1 trillion total, approximately $1.1 trillion were mortgage loans sold to Government-Sponsored Enterprises (“GSEs”), primarily the Federal National Mortgage Association (“Fannie Mae”) and Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (“Freddie Mac”).
