This incredible sight is a supernova remnant, that is the left over gas from a star that's ended it's life in a huge explosion. The overlapping Ha (red) and O3 (blue) shells show the shock wave expanding through space, like ripples on a pond this will expand for ever getting weaker and weaker until it's no longer visible and gone forever.
It's believed that the star exploded around 40 thousand years ago and is around 3 thousand light years away from us.
This structure is truly massive, if you could see this with your eyes it would have the apparent width of 6 full moons in the night sky, which is mind blowing to consider.
