Hitorishizuka

Hitorishizuka is a Japanese native perennial that blooms in spring. It is often found blooming quietly on dark mountain paths in low mountains. The two leaves are arranged in a cross-like ring of opposite leaves. The flowers have no petals or sepals, and the stamens and pistils are attached in a brush-like shape. The name comes from "Shizugozen," a female clapper in the late Heian to early Kamakura periods. ヒトリシズカは春に咲く日本在来の多年草。 低山の暗い山道などでひっそり咲いていることが多い。 2枚の葉が対生しながら輪生するように十字についている。 花には花弁や萼が無くブラシ状に雄しべと雌しべがつく。 名前の由来は平安時代末期から鎌倉時代初期の女性白拍子「静御前」から由来している。
