Also known as "golden repair" is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum.
Each piece repaired with this technique becomes something unique and unrepeatable, due to the randomness with which the ceramic breaks as well as the irregular and branched decorations that are formed which are, however, enhanced by metal.
From a philosophical point of view this approach teaches us to celebrate imperfections and that as human beings, , imperfections are inevitable, whether in appearance, character or actions.
