Run is written as a tough love lecture from God. I often imagined God as a having the demeanor of a black mother.
I wrote this while literally and figuratively on the run. I was running from a lot in my life but hadn't yet realized what i was running towards, but in the context of the song we are always running back to the source.
It doesn't matter what path we take, they all lead back home eventually.
