XB Falcons debuting in 1973 were essentially facelifted XAs. Front-end sheet metal (with particular attention to the hood) was revised to create an even more pronounced nose. Instead of a single slatted grille opening the XB also received a split grille which is a bit more subdued in GT form especially fitted with driving lights. The XB GT was fitted with 4 wheel disc brakes as standard equipment. A new four-speed manual transmission was available. Even more popular than its predecessor the XB Falcon line made its way into many Australian driveways from 1974 to 1976.
