Sunil Lala spent his entire family fortune opening a fine dining restaurant that served only doubles. No expense was spared, the walls were ornately decorated, gilded in gold leaf. Soft barra and channa were presented on fine china plates, complete with a side of tamarind and mango chutney Hors d'oeuvres. Red and grape Solo flavoured martinis were served. The novelty of the venture, and a nationwide love of this iconic meal, made the restaurant an instant hit. That is, until his ex-wife set up a cooler outside and sold her delicious doubles for a fraction of the price. He went out of business within a week.
