A wanderer came to us and traded stories for some salt and bread. He spoke of the legend of the yellow king—a being from a distant world and time who commanded legions of loyal servants of the most powerful and terrifying who slew even old gods in battle. The wanderer told us that due to the legend, many had wished to claim it as their own, and now there were scores of yellow kings across the distant ends of the cosmic network, all who have lived long enough as the yellow king that they each became the living embodiment of the yellow king’s idea.
