Mangō means shark in my native language, Māori, and this day was a rare event in my local area, where hundreds of sharks warmed up in the sun over a few days. Playing in the waves, local surfers enjoyed the company of these schooling bronze whaler sharks.
I was blessed to swim with this school on an offshore island days later and witnessed something I will treasure forever.
