Castlepoint is a small seaside town in the Wairarapa district. The light house, was built in 1913, on Sunday the 12th of January, was officially light, sending a triple flash every 45 seconds that could be seen for 35kms. The north island of New Zealand's tallest lighthouse at 52m above sea level and one of only 2 rotating beamed lighthouses left.
Fur seals at the south end of the beach can get pretty grumpy, as we found out on this early morning mission.
There is also one heck of a surf break, known as the gap, the swell spills through a gap in the headland with a truly unique backdrop and epic isolated waves.
This place is one of a kind.
