During the 1960s, the US government, under pressure to win the space race against the Soviet Union, devised a plan to create a fake moon landing. Stanley Kubrick was approached to direct the operation and enlisted a group of special effects experts to create an artificial lunar landscape in Area 51. With the help of ex-NASA employees, the team successfully created the illusion of a moon landing.
The mission was a success, and the public believed that NASA had landed on the moon. To this day, only a select few people know the truth about the fake moon landing.
