“In German, ‘Aufgezeichnete Luft’ means “recorded air.” But if you change one letter to ausgezeichnete, it means “remarkable” or “splendid”—“splendid air.” This piece is made with one particular software patch made in Reaktor. It was a lucky moment of that patch producing this amorphous spectral movement, and I would just follow along and make sure it didn’t collapse. I filtered it and shaped it, bringing strings of frequencies in and out, always keeping the momentum. Then I took the recording and chopped it down to its present length.” — Jan St. Werner
