O espelho / The mirror - Matt Humphrey

On reading this poem there were several themes that jumped out at me that I wanted to explore. The overwhelming feeling is that of ‘saudade’, a sense of longing, imbued with melancholy and nostalgia, for which there is no direct translation in English. I’ve always loved that word, and how deeply rooted it is in the language, culture and people of Portugal, and Brazil. So I set myself the challenge of trying to capture this - in camera.
