Caesar became a member of the First Triumvirate, and when that broke up, he fought a civil war against Pompey the Great. Winning the war, Caesar became Roman dictator for life. He was killed by his enemies in Rome.
Later rulers of Rome called themselves “Caesar” and this title was later copied as “Kaiser” and “Tsar”.
In the background "The Coronation of Napoleon" (French: Le Sacre de Napoléon) is a painting completed in 1807 by Jacques-Louis David, the official painter of Napoleon, depicting the coronation of Napoleon I at Notre-Dame de Paris.
It marked "the instantiation of modern empire" and was a "transparently masterminded piece of modern propaganda"
