Shirabyōshi

From woodblock printing to blockchain printing. Her name was Shizuka Gozen (静御前). She was a shirabyōshi (白拍子; court dancer and concubinage), and a lover of Minamoto no Yoshitsune (源 義経). Here, Hokusai depicts Shizuka Gozen performing a farewell dance to her lover Yoshitsune after being forced to end her relationship with him. It is said that Yoshitsune's wife watched the entire dance along with her husband. The event was set in Tsurugaoka Hachimangū shrine (鶴岡八幡宮) in Kamakura. Painted and coloured on silk by Katsushika Hokusai, c. 1825. Blockchainified on the 17th of February, 2021.
