Exclusively commissioned for the GM gallery project by Punk 6529 and curated by Mintface, GM (Blink Blink Vroom Vroom!) repurposes the classic General Motors logo into a bold iconic iteration meant to communicate “Good Morning”, perpetuating the cheerful meme “GM”; a lexicon used as a traditional greeting by the NFT community. This calculated and seamless approach to appropriation and transformation is characteristic of Skye Nicolas’ work, employing pop culture references and assigning new context as a powerful creative gesture. The overall composition of the piece references 20th century modern art masters, such as Andy Warhol, John Baldessari, Ed Ruscha, and James Rosenquist.
