Once a year, for a few weeks during Spring, the Mackenzie Basin in New Zealand's Southern Alps is transformed into a vibrant wash of the most beautiful floral wonder.
Russell Lupin Flowers are not native to New Zealand, but have made quite an impact to the otherwise barren landscapes of this area.
Some years Lupins cover the landscape for as far as the eye can see with the most incredible waves of colour.
This particular year the Lupins were flowering their best and stretched for miles. They love to set their roots along the lake foreshore and as I walked through them they smelt like sweet candy and stood tall to my shoulders.
A blended image keeping the Lupins in focus as well ...
