戯猫美人画 ～SAKURA～

This work is a creation of a cat and a woman in the image of Ukiyoe. The woman depicted is Konohanasakuyahime, a goddess from Japanese mythology and the origin of the word for cherry blossoms. The kimono she is wearing and the background are made of traditional Japanese kimono of Kyo-yuzen, and the design and the colors of herb-dyeing give the work a dignified and delicate expression. In Japan, there is an ancient goddess of spring named Sahohime, who brings spring to the land by sprouting plants and trees after the winter.
