"The Hidden Self" The shadow is a difficult concept to grasp, mostly because it implies a "dark" side. Instead of "dark", the word "hidden" is more appropriate. it is not a shadow because it is dark, it is a shadow because it is not illuminated to the individual. When it remains hidden, it is a wellspring of discord and destruction. You'll notice the powerful hand of Kali raised holding a sword, ready to cut, it suggests violence.
