Time to love is inspired by Salvador Dali’s melting clock and his painting “The Persistence of Memory”. In contrast with Dali’s painting, where the clocks and nature have a dark undertone, Romero Britto sets the clock in the middle of his painting atop of a lush, green, tree with golden sand by a calm sea at night time. The clock in the middle reminds the viewer of the ever ephemeral nature of time, slipping, melting away. The two hearts around it, almost as if holding the clock onto the tree, are a subtle hint that there is always “Time to Love”.
