I found myself drawn to the small square image of a killdeer bird, painted entirely in various shades of blue. The contour of the bird was outlined in pencil, and it was standing in water that was forming concentric circles behind it. The bird seemed almost ghost-like, with only a hint of its normal dark colorings visible. The tones used were a mixture of dark and light blues, as well as greens that leaned towards blue and violets that leaned towards blue. As I looked closer, I couldn't help but feel a sense of otherworldliness emanating from the painting. It was as if the killdeer had stepped out of our world and into another, leaving behind only the faintest trace of its true form.
