Portraits of An Other is a series of motion portraits set in a potential future. Robots indistinguishable from humans serve as portrait subjects. Does sitting with these beings allow us to define and feel more acutely the contours of our humanity? What is it that we honor and revere as uniquely human? Which aspects of our human experience do we want to nourish and sustain? How do we relate to those different from ourselves? How might they feel about themselves and us? How do we feel about how they feel? How could we love?
