"A soul is mirrored
In the eyes
But how is one to know
When the whole world
Is full of such lies."
This self-portrait is inspired to the song "Soul Eyes" which has become "part of the basic repertory of jazz performers" – a jazz standard - since the release of John Coltrane's recording.
The first vocal version of "Soul Eyes" was recorded by American jazz singer and record producer Laurie Antonioli in 1984.
