日本の天然記念物に登録されている「紀州犬」は、三重県から和歌山県原産の日本犬です。 やや吊り上がった三角目とふさふさの巻き尾が特徴で、95%が白色です。残りの5%が胡麻毛・赤毛・虎毛・黒です。 日本犬保存会によると、2017年の紀州犬の血統書発行部数は約372頭で、約20年前と比べると約4分の1にまで減少していて絶滅の危機にあります。
The Kishu dog, registered as a Japanese natural treasure, is a Japanese dog native to Mie to Wakayama prefectures. They are characterized by their slightly slanted triangular eyes and bushy curly tails. 95% of them are white. The remaining 5% are sesame, red, tiger, and black. According to the Nihon Inu Preservation Society, the number of Kishu Inu pedigrees issued in 2017 was about 372, which is about a quarter of what it was about 20 years ago, and is in danger of extinction.
