In Orion’s Belt, if you dare, look for the Horsehead and Flame Nebula! This iconic set of nebulae is one of the most impressive in the winter night sky. This image is one not often seen, because it is such a wide field. The Hydrogen gases fling out into space in a stunning display. The Horsehead is a dark nebula in the shape of a horse and the flame extends to the bottom left.
Taken using a small telescope and a narrowband filter, this image comprises over 10 hours of photos.
