Those twin volcanoes are Licancabur (left) and Juriques (right) at the first light of summers breaking dawn.
Their location is about 40 kilometers from San Pedro de Atacama and they are both shared by Chile and Bolivia national territories. For native people from the desert, nowadays self called Atacameños, Licancabur is a very sacred volcano with a huge past of ceremonial events and shaman spiritual self development processes.
The story told through countless years is that Juriques was once conical shaped like his brother and maybe a little taller, but not as perfectly rounded as Licancabur. Close to them, at the place where this photo was taken from, there was a mountain called "Quimal"....
