#04: rise to

tortoises, on average, outlive us by a significant margin. it is helpful to think of that, of how relatively our short time on this planet is and to make this time count. not by being perfect. but by trying to make a positive impact wherever and whenever we can. this poem was inspired by wheelchair dancer and activist Tobi Green Adenowo who jokingly said "I mean, tortoise outlive us!" as part of a longer deep-dive on her story, passions and motivation. the energy of her speech and the profound truth of that one line: i felt inspired! i also related it to my journey as an artist: i do not know how much time is in my treasure chest, but i want to use what there is in a meaningful way. meanin...View all
