To capture the spirit of the country, the artist referred to two national symbols of Armenia: the Duduk, an ancient brass musical instrument made of apricot wood, and the Armenian alphabet, a key to Armenian cultural identity. Letters of the alphabet have been used since the 5th century A.D., almost unchanged.
In the design of this figurine, the artist remembers an ancient tradition of the Armenian alphabet — Bird letters (or “Trchnakir” in Armenian) — a tradition that combines intricate design, calligraphy, and vibrant colors.
