A blacktip reef shark rises from the drop off onto the shallow white sand of Mo'orea lagoon. This shallow zone in the lagoon is home to a resident population of blacktip reef sharks and stingrays. At the edge of the shallow sandbar is a ledge that drops down to a channel leading out of the pass to open ocean. The contrast between the dark and the light creates a full spectrum of aqua hues while the sharks gather in the deep and slowly rise towards the light.
