Hot On My Skin Again

Maps to idyllic havens for those looking to escape the undesirable elements of the outside world. I am inventing a visual vocabulary inspired by topographic symbols in conjunction with gestural abstract marks to recreate the experiences felt while camping and hiking in the backcountry. Exploration of the wilderness is an integral part of my studio practice. I appreciate the freedom and fulfillment that being away from civilization offers, much like my studio refuge. My marks twist and turn on the surface to represent pathways, obstacles, ecosystems, and boundaries.
