Bitwork

'Helios' is part of series called the Torqued Panels. The premise is the same as the Torqued Painting series but in this case the frame and canvas have been replaced by fiberglass panels that have cut into different shapes. Once hung the panels seemingly hover off the wall and echo the torqued surfaces of the paintings. I started titling the panels with different names to express the different personalities. 'Helios' named after the Greek Sun God and is from the first batch of panels, along with 'Stellar', "Spark' and the other Greek-named 'Erebus'. I had wanted to have the panels painted with automotive paint but the look wasn't right, thus I ended up painting each by hand with acrylic paint, which lead to many more panels in this series.
