This British pound coin, minted in 2021, bears the skeletal face of Xólotl, the hairless Aztec god, an aspect of Quetzalcoatl. Xólotl is the god of monsters and duality, probably modelled after the Xoloitzcuintle breed, which is cheerful, alert and intelligent. This coin was made in proud collaboration with the artist Quetzalcoatlia, spinner of trippy kaleidoscopes from her own restorations of Aztec manuscripts. Xólotl is depicted here as he is in the Codex Borgia. His hunger for popcorn (or momochitl) is the artist's own elaboration.
