“Bon-sai”, also known as 盆栽 in Kanji, is a Japanese term which simply means “planted in a container”. It is an art form derived from an ancient Chinese horticultural practice known as Penjing, 盆景. However, unlike Penjing which utilizes traditional techniques to produce entire natural sceneries in small pots that mimic the grandiose and shape of real life sceneries, the Japanese bonsai only attempts to produce small trees that forms the shape of real life trees.

For the eighth Genesis Bonsai in the collection we take you back to the mysterious east Asia, home of the Manchurian crane and red sun. This animated piece has 40x40 pixels, total of 38 frames and 8 FPS. The bonsai was moved to the right of the frame in order to achieve the perfect balance. Only three pieces in the collection will have this background, each one is still unique and numbered with this Genesis one being #1.
