In the mists of Mesozoic this deity appears as a giant, nocturnal spider, trapping its victims in a web and devouring them, slowly. It sings as it works. The dead are sucked slowly into the web, and are never seen alive again. In the Cthulhu cult the image is that of a gigantic, all-seeing, all-seeing eye, piercing the night with strange beams of light. Cthulhu has a vast store of images which he uses to justify his horrible worship, and which he vainly tries to hide from his hearers.
