Its lifespan exceeds thirty centuries and is considered wiser than human beings. They can foresee the future, communicate using human languages, and manifest phantasmal visions. A dok-heuk-ri yearns for enlightenment — the answer to the question of life — throughout the entirety of its existence. Once it attains said enlightenment, however, its life force is drained and it ceases to live.
