The Amazonian Apple Snail is a non native species, invading the Southern United States, particularly in Louisiana. They slide along surfaces, slowly oozing a pink smear of eggs behind it.
Many small children in the bayou confuse this clutch of eggs with bubblegum, but they will get a nasty surprise, as the eggs and snail contain neurotoxins, not unlike the pufferfish.
